Rocky Mountain Rotary Youth Exchange Programs and Features!

I don't live in CO!

Programs offered by RMRYE are exclusive to residents of Rotary District 5450 in Colorado, USA. Please contact the Rotary clubs in your area to participate in their exchange program.

RMRYE currently offers a year long exchange program and a Summer Camp program for Colorado, Rotary District 5450 students.

For the year long program...

RMRYE sends and receives students from a variety of countries in Asia, Europe and South America. Cost, age requirements and parental involvement vary for each program. Please visit the program specific page for additional requirements and to download an application by clicking here.

The Commiitte consist primarily of former students and wholy of persons with extensive international travel. A students personality and natural strengths/weaknesses are greatly taken into account in determining where they will be placed. The experience is seldom hindered by a student being placed a country not their primary choice and even not in their top three choices.

All host and volunteers are screened and monitored by various agencies both in Colorado and abroad. These agencies typically (but not always) include CSIET, the US Dept of State, Rotary International and others. The safety and well being of the participants is of utmost importance.

RMRYE prides itself on being as low cost as possible. There is not a profit in either program for Rotary or RMRYE, there are no administrative staff or fancy offices. Even this website is hosted, courtesy of Greg Radziewicz (www.radzrealestate.com) for no cost. Volunteers often donate far more than their time. We, as a committe, want as many students to experience this program as posible and do our best to maintain cost as low as possible.

With the YLEP, the students are asked to rank their favorite countries and based on interviews and their application, the committee does their best to match students with the best fit country.

The program is a year long and does require a student of sufficient maturity and emotional strength. As children, we are all taught to not take candy from strangers. When a student enters YLEP, they will be traveling to a foreign country and living with, eating with, getting in the car with and trusting people who start out as complete strangers but rapidly become friends and often extended family.

If you feel you are a strong person, emotionally and mentally, have good grades and are up for one of the greatest challenges a young person may experience, then please consider the Rocky Mountain Rotary Youth Exchange Year Long Program.

For the Summer Camp Program...

District 5450 will be hosting one summer camp for international students each July.  This program is new, starting July 2009. We will be offering reciprocal European Rotary Camps for our program.  No family-to-family exchanges will be offered in 2009 or 2010. Additional information will be available mid January of each year.

This is an excellent program for testing the idea of a year long exchange, to experience a foreign country from the inside or to participate without attending school! Emotional and mental maturity are required, but this program is not as intense nor does it require the strength of the yearl long program.
